i looked up this topic and couldn't find the answer i needed so....
ok, i just got accepted into the 5 week Theatre with the 2 week Musical Theatre extension at Northwestern. I also applied to the University of Michigan Musical Theatre program (3 weeks long), which I haven't heard back from. And I am about to send in my Carnegie Mellon Musical Theatre application (6 weeks long).
Which has the strongest reputation? Michigan is my first choice for COLLEGE, so it is also my first choice for summer, however, it's such a short program, and i really want to find the program that will help me grow the most.
any advice helps!!!
thanks :)
If you really wanna go to Michigan go to the Michigan program. They love it when people attend their summer program, it definitely will be helpful if you audition for them later. Not to mention it's an incredible program.
Otherwise I'd say Northwestern...I remember when I was looking into that program I was pretty impressed with what it had to offer. I ended up not auditioning for it but it looked good at least. Is the Carnegie Mellon program the one that you don't have to audition for? If that's the one I'm thinking of, my friend went there and while she had a good time, it probably is not the best out of the others you mentioned.

ya, that's exactly what i was thinking.
does anyone know how many are accepted into each program?
These aren't the only excellent summer programs out there.

Absolutely go to Northwestern. I went last summer and it was the greatest experience of my life. The 5 week program has around 160 students and the MT extension has about 30. It will make you stronger than you could ever imagine. PM me if you have any specific questions.

I know several people who have attended Mpulse and loved it! I do however also know that the program is somewhat short and not as intense as other programs like Broadway Theatre Project or NYU's CAP21 where you hardly have any free time. It is all up to personal preference in the end. By now you should have heard from UMich though. If you did get accepted, please know that you would be only one of 23-25 which would be big accomplishment in itself!
