skip over and follow the pianist. Even if it is thier job to follow you.

That's always hard. There's almost nothing to do. You don't want to make the pianist look bad because then you look bad to the auditioners. Just take comfort in the fact that it happens to everyone. You almost NEVER want to ask to start over, though.

THAT SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME about 3 weeks ago at a community theatre audtion, the pianist forgot the key change in my song! Luckily the director must have noticed that it wasn't my fault because after everyone had sang, she called me back up to do my song again.I mean i realize that accomanying someone is NOT an easy thing to do but wow when you rely on them and they make even the tiniest mistake it can totally throw your audtion! And its only natural that they make a few mistakes i mean those people are SAINTS! All the music they have to pretty much site read at those audtions! WOW! Yay for pianists! So anyway in your case i would have put a huge smile on and just kept going like nothing was wrong. As long as you never let your face show that you made a mistake the director probably wouldn't even notice...

Way to be random, but the title made me think of the song from Cabaret.
