Best news I've had...in a while. Don't let the door hit you on the way out, you incompetent...
Okay, deep breaths. Calm. Zen.
Thank the Lord. Finally a piece of good news. That man scared me to death.

Oh, Margo, you brilliant b*tch!

Augh, the memories.
Actually, that was probably the most endearing thing Ashcroft ever did. Kinda cute, in a frightening sort of way.
i wouldn't be in such a rush to celebrate until we know who's replacing him.

Well thank God! Being one of the Missourians who opted to elect a deceased man over Ashcroft ... well this is fabulous news. I hope he gives up politics altogether! (and doesn't move back to Missouri .... or NYC for that matter)
Good point, Matt.
YAY
I just coughed up enough bile to hit Ohio. I feel much better now!

I heard that Rumsfeld is soon to be ousted as well. And I can't remember if I heard that Condaleeza Rice is prelacing HIM or Ashcroft, but she's stepping into one of those roles.

What? She's not much better-qualified for those roles than I am. Oy.
word is that alberto gonzalez is in the fast lane to replace johnny. that won't last as berto's also gw's pick to joint the supremes should any justices need replacing. so it's conceivable that bush could appoint the first hispanic attorney general and if he follows him up with larry thompson (when and if berto moves on to the supremes) he'd also appoint the first african american attorney general.

I also heard that Colin wants out because he was largely ignored in the first term.
if rummy's out then colin might well stay, especially if he's under the impression that dick is "only for now" like i am.

True. I'm not sold on Cheney leaving though. I think Bush likes him too much. i wish he were just so I can stop hearing people screaming "Halliburton! Halliburton!" It's almost as tired as "Swift Boat! Swift Boat!"
i doubt dick's leaving tomorrow, but he's not staying the full term. karl knows damn well he needs someone other than one of those maniacs from the senate or house who are going to be screaming for the nomination. the only way he gets someone he wants without too much blood being shed (now don't despair there will be bloodshed, make no mistake about that) is to backdoor them into the hearts of the gop faithful as vp. if, and it's a big if, bush manages to turn some public sentiment over the next two years then his endorsement will be like gold to a vp who's seen with him more and more towards the end of his term. if on the other hand the ship starts sinking, all bets are off and it's a dogfight in the primaries and a democratic win in '08.
I just wish Lucifer, aka Mr. Rove was leaving...
Oh shucks....I was hoping this was about John Simon.

not a chance, emonkey. The GOP are hailing him as the conquering hero. Personally, I don't have a problem with Rove. Now, ol' Dick.....
I know, but a girl can dream...(& they're both evil in my world...)
please, rove just led the gop to it's first 2-termer in the white house since reagan and presided over a second increase in the gop majority in the senate and the house following the mid-term slaughter of 2002. add to that the fact that he and gw have been friends since their early 20's and mr. rove is going nowhere anytime soon. although you may take solace in the fact that george's pet name for him is "turd blossom."
