I saw this production a couple of weeks ago, and now that it's opened I feel it's okay to review it- it's wonderful. The ensemble is excellent all around, with Aldgredge and Bryggman being especial standouts in my view. There were small bits of interpretation I disagreed with- especially the character of Juror #8, who I think should be played with more doubt in the beginning- but the writing is excellent, the story compelling, and the themes and issues relevant and vibrantly presented on the stage. I really recommend this play.
Plum, you are right, it is a great play. I've had the opportunity to direct both "12 Angry Men" and the female version "12 Angry Women" and there is a lot of character work for almost all of the actors to grab a hold of, especially jurors three and eight.

Sorry, I should have mentioned James Rebhorn as being another standout. He really comes into his own in the second half of the play, especially.
I saw it tonight for the second time, the first time being the second night of previews. I simply adore it. I think that cast is so tight that you can't possibly find a weak link in it if you try. I was worried I wouldn't like it as much the second time but let me tell you I loved it even more. They suck you right into that room with them, it's fantastic.

I directed this show several years ago in a regional production. They may have tweaked the script since its original. I hope so, because the original script for the play had several logic holes in the case made for "reasonable doubt" by Juror #8. Whereas, the film script is PERFECT. I have no idea why they changed the script from screen to stage. It bugged me the whole time I was directing it.
They have announced that they have extended the run until January 2nd, so now more people will have a chance to see this wonderful play and, from all accounts, a great production.
