still not the only one that enjoys it.

When the compliments for a show keep coming from a girl who is dating one of the cast members, I tend to take that with a grain of salt.

Diva, we know you don't care about the show. Don't dig up threads from weeks ago to tell us that.
And for the record, I've probably been this show's biggest champion on these boards, and I'm not dating any of the cast members (nor would that be legal...)
I'm just bumping this thread because you and Lindsey keep dragging out your other thread about the show. Other folks, including people that write letters to the Editor of the LA Times also seem to agree with me.
I'd have more respect for your opinions if they didn't obviously come from someone who has direct, personal connections to the show.
That's what we call a 'shill'.
I respect your opinion to the show because youre entitled to one, and i'm sorry for sharing mine.
I just wont have an opinion on anything anymore ok?
I would be the last person to tell you not to have "an opinion on anything anymore ok?"
Just the ones where you are sucking face with one of the performers.
okay.
fair enough.
It is still my opinion and I would have enjoyed the show even if "I wasn't sucking face with one of the performers" as you so have elegantly stated it.
No, I put it, "Just the ones where you are sucking face with one of the performers."
Not, "I wasn't sucking face with one of the performers"
Oh, and when you get dumped, please let us know how you feel about the show then.
Is it making you feel better that you're trying to hurt the feelings of a 16 year old girl, and you're what a 35 year old man?
I told you I respected your opinion of the show, I don't know why you persist to insult me.

I saw it today and EVERYONE in the theater loved - I made a point of noticing, since I read this thread earlier. I thought it was wonderful - great songs, as expected, but a pretty good and clever book, given the built-in cliches of the plot. Terrific cast, especially the leading man. This show is going to be a GOLDMINE for JRB. This is going to play everywhere, indefinitely - it's made for a local theater group. Maybe not Broadway but everwhere else.
Ricky- One final word seeing as now its gotten personal and I've been absent from this board for a while. First off, though Lindsay and I are dating, we always give eachother honest opinions of the shows that we are in. She isn't saying here and she didn't say to me that 13 is the best show of all time, she is simply saying she enjoyed it. Before opening we all knew that not everyone was going to love the show, but we knew that many would. You are saying people who wrote the the LA Times agree with you, fine. What about the people that wrote in saying the loved the show? What about the stellar reviews we got from virtually every paper? Do those go unnoticed? If you don't like the show, that's fine, you are entitled to your opinion, but don't make it seem like no one likes it, because a WHOLE lot of people do.
Hi Ricky I saw the show and you did a fine job. Although I didn't LOVE the show (I especially was turned off by the lame happy ending where everybody gets along. I mean JRB said that he didn't write a kiddy show but I felt like "Really?" after the ending) but some songs were good and I enjoyed those. My question is (not to you) that I was wondering why they chose this show to be one of the subscription series at Mark Taper. It could be a fun show for teenagers but Mark Taper subscribers are much much older. I think it would have been suitable to do it at Kirk Douglas Theatre (a little smaller theatre too).
One more thing: some JRB fans from Japan will be coming to see the show this week. They are making like 2 nights 4 days trip just to see the show. Wouldn't it make you feel special?
If reading a post on a message board hurts your feelings, you should try getting thicker skin.
And stop twisting my words around. I never said I didn’t care about the show. I am simply stating facts that, even though you felt like everyone in the theatre loved the show, there were those who did not, and they were rather vocal about it.
And Nichole3, it’s nice that you joined up just to post two threads, one of which you call me names. That’s VERY mature, and just strengthens my case that the core audience for this show is still in school.
Lindsay-
Ok, we're glad to know that people were vocal because there opinions are also very important too. Thank you for the information!
Done now?
Are you?
Ricky- Ok, now you're both being ridiculous. Its fine that you don't like the show, but your negativity has been stated and nothing more that you could say will help... and yes it does make me feel special that they're coming in from Japan. As for the core audience being in school, ok, so what if they are? Is that a problem? I don't think so. The majority of the film/television/music/theater industry is targeted to teens because they are huge spenders. I think 13 is a much smarter, better written show than most, though still targeted to this group, which I think there is nothing wrong with. The people of BWW now know how you feel so there is no point just continuing to spread negativity.

ok well my review for the show:
amazing! the kids are absolutely incredible and its not just another high school musical...the kids are really into it and the show is a mixture of comedy but has those moments in the show where you feel the characters pain and your heart reaches out to that character! it was wonderful
comments and concerns:
ok so i saw the show twice. first time i saw it i was front row, center orchestra and absolutely loved it. second time i was last row, center baclony. the second time i saw it the boy playing archie's voice cracked a tad and the girl playing charlotte missed a couple of her notes (when she came out for the stage door she sounded very hoarse too). now the kids were still amazing...but im concerned for their voices. this show requires major belting and the kids' voices are getting hurt each and every performance. i just hope that they can recast or double cast the show or something to give a little break on the changing voices of the teenage cast.
also: i can not stress the fact enought that graham phillips, the male lead, NEEDS to learn his lines! both times i saw the show he fumbled over or completely forgotten his line. the first time i saw it he stuttered a little. the second time i saw it there was at least 10 seconds of silence of graham looking in the air trying to desparately remember his lines!!! COME ON this is broadway, not high school. forgetting your line is unacceptable...and it wasnt acting. it was clear as day that he forgot what he was saying....
but other than that the show was amazing hahah everyone should see it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
13!!

13: The Musical is amazing. A Jewish boy is about to celebrate his Bar Mitzvah, when his parents divorce and he moves to a small town. Now he has the choice to have all the popular kids or just invite his real friends, the not popular kids. The fun up-beat music by Jason Robert Brown is truly how musical theater should be. I just celebrated my bar mitzvah. I have gone through what the main character is going through. Because the whole cast and band are ages 13-17, I felt like they were my friends on stage. The cast will sign autographs outside the theater after the show. I recommend for everyone to go see this musical. Anyone can relate to this story because we all were or will be 13.
