According to Shirley Jones' unofficial website (http://www.shirleyjones.net/tvspots.htm), she hosted a PBS Special in 1985 entitled "A Salute to Rodgers & Hammerstein". It was supposedly filmed at the Shubert Theatre in New Haven, CT - when most of the R&H musicals tried out prior to B'way - and aired on March 20, 1985.

This is not the General Foods 25th Anniversary Show (which was also called "A Salute to Rodgers & Hammerstein"), nor is it A&E's "The Sound of Movies" special, which she also hosted.

Anyone remember this or have a copy???

Your source appears to be confusing two different specials, neither of which was titled "A Salute to Rodgers & Hammerstein."

The 1985 special was called "Rodgers & Hammerstein: The Sound of American Music" and was hosted by Mary Martin, although Jones appeared in and I think even narrated part of it:

Shirley, as you noted, hosted a 1996 special called "Rodgers & Hammerstein: The Sound of Movies."

Is "Rodgers & Hammerstein: The Sound of American Music" available anywhere? Was it ever released commercially??
