I saw Mary Martin do it in 1966 or so, Ginger rogers in 1969, Channing in the 1977(?) revival and the 1995 one. Martin was funny but maybe a bit coy, Ginger was lucky to be surrounded with excellent foils, and Channing was amazing in both revivals: fantastic comedy timing and many wonderful moments. I could sit through the production forever just to watch the "Waiters' Galop."

The worst part is that at the curtain call, Carol Channing made this rambling incoherent speech that went on forever.
What I would give to see that. Ms. Senile Channing at her worst. I love her.
