2 Gentlemen & Dreamgirls movie

Someone should record the current cast of Two Gentlemen of Verona. They are better than the original cast.

I think the producers of the Dreamgirls movie should ditch their current casting and choose Renee Elise Goldsberry as Deena.

Gotham - I agree with a 2 Gents cast recording and the idea of Goldsberry as Deena. Her voice is golden and she is strikingly beautiful. Not only is the new cast better, but the band is smokin'. I would love to hear a recording of this show with today's engineering in sound quality. One thing though, I hope they can keep the same high energy and spirit as shown on the original recording. Nowadays, many wonderful shows have such antiseptic pedestrian recordings, even if the live performances were outstanding. Especially the revivals. I almost wish they were just recorded live.

I've never heard of Renee Elise Goldsberry. Who is she? What would I know her from?

She's currently playing Sylvia in "Two Gentlemen of Verona" in Central Park.

Her performances of Night Letter and Love Me are Tony-worthy. The audience went nuts during both numbers. Night Letter and the "Think, think baby! Think, think baby!" was especially funny and the dove ("Higher! Higher!") during Love Me was stupid, funny, thrilling and utterly delightful all at once. I really urge people to see this immensely enjoyable production.

I saw it in previews and there were no fireworks. What happens?

Fireworks were added a day or two before the official opening.

Goldsberry was great as Sylvia and would make a smashing Deena.

She's worked on a lot on soaps and she's proven herself to be a good actress. I also think that she's very pretty as do others. But you would have never known that to read the TGFV reviews and remarks posted on this board. You'd have thought Renee was flat-out plain and that Rosario was the alpha and omega of beauty standards.

I don't know her either, but I just checked out the Web site pics. She's a beauty, no doubt about it... but I don't think she's in the mega-star league with Beyonce.

I still think that casting choice is perfect for the film.
