I had plans to see American Psycho and Tuck Everlasting this summer, but it's been announced that both are closing before we arrive. I have a 16 year old daughter (who's devestated about not being able to see Tuck, she'd been looking forward to it for months) who absolutely loves theater, and would probably be fine with seeing anything there. We want to make the best use of our time there, so any suggestions? We are already seeing Wicked and She Loves Me, and we've seen Something Rotten and Fun Home. Also, nothingt that is going on/would be just as good on tour. Thanks so much!!

I would say Waitress and Bright Star.
School of Rock is charming but for that age might feel a bit too immature.

Waitress, Shuffle Along, or the Color Purple.
I would also throw Matilda and Bright Star in for consideration.
Matilda is a must-see show, but I think it's touring and it's really not a cast-dependent show. Bright Star is gorgeous, but give the music and listen and see you like the style. The NPR stream was take down now that it's released but you can get an idea from the samples on amazon or iTunes.
Shuffle Along could be a great choice- the dancing is phenomenal, and there's not a more legendary group of actors currently on Broadway. You could also look at Curious Incident- not a musical, of course, but the staging is pretty dazzling and I imagine most teenagers would really enjoy it.

We saw Matilda on tour a month ago (loved it!) and we were thinking about Bright Star, but she likes more comedic shows, and correct me if I'm wrong, but Bright Star is more of a love story. (although she has stated that she likes the music)

It is, but it's also not. It does have romance elements to it, but I don't think it's what the show is about at its core. I wouldn't call it a comedy, it's a pretty emotional show and I cried both times I saw. But it also has very very funny moments. Steve Martin wrote the book after. For me, it was a perfect laughter through tears combo platter. And since you wanted to see Tuck, had was way sadder and had less comedy elements in it, imo. If she likes the music already I would definitely consider it.

Even though The King & I is touring, you owe it to yourselves to see this production. It's amazing.
