2008 Hippodrome Lineup?

I don't think it was announced last year until April.

I used to work at the Hip during 80s PROM- I keep in contact with friends who still work there.

They've heard that if Chita Rivera's show keeps touring, it will be the opener for the season. Also, Grease and Ring of Fire are also definite at some point. Color Purple and Piazza are likely, but none of the bigger tours have been booked.

I researched Grease - and Phoenix Tours is producing that as well as Ring of Fire. I imagine that some sort of tie-in with the NBC show "You're the One That I Want" will be worked into the promotion of the show.

As for the bigger tours, and this is my own personal opinion, it has taken some time for the Hippodrome to book the bigger shows out on tour. Wicked didn't touch down here until almost two years after it went out on the road.

While I was personally surprised that they booked Spamalot in it's first year - they are slowing starting to book the big tours right off the bat. I, too, hope that the aforementioned shows are not all the theatre has to offer.

Also, word is that some of the smaller tours are going to book the Hippodrome as well - it appears unlikely that the Lyric will have any touring shows next season...

I agree with Writerguy, if Color Purple (yawn), Piazza (snooze), Producers (not a fan), Ave Q (seen it too many times) are part of next year's lineup, I'm definitely not going to purchase season tickets. I would be ecstatic if the lineup consisted of shows I haven't seen before!

Would love to see Jersey Boys and some older shows that I've never seen (You're a Good Man Charlie Brown, Urinetown, Into the Woods). I always wanted to see Grease, but after watching a couple episodes of that stupid show, I've kind of lost interest.

I'm so curious about what's gonna be touring!
