OK, so not for my sister, maybe I could get my dad to take me to see it, I was talking to him on the way home about the Brechtian style(ok, well actually he was telling me a little about it), but I've actually gotten really intersted in learning about it.
Thanks for the "warnings"

I've never heard the word "Turd" used so much in one three-hour time.
I think we started keeping a tally.

I'm sure this has been asked and answered. Then reposted...but -
Will there be a recording? And when if so?

Bollocks? Maybe it's because you were in the front row - but myself - and many of my friends - couldn't understand a single sung word. I had no idea what they were singing.
As far as the revivals go, I liked THREEPENNY less than SWEENEY and THE PAJAMA GAME.
THE PAJAMA GAME is a solid, fantastic production. The script has always been a little iffy, with lines like "Never mind about the snowjob", what impressed me is that Kathleen and the cast made the show work. Obviously, there was some re-writing, but it really isn't all that extensive. I absolutely loved every second of the revival and it succeeds on every level
SWEENEY TOOD is just brilliant - but SWEENEY TODD is just a better show than THE PAJAMA GAME, material-wise. Both are overwhelmind successes.
If we're talking awards, I would count THREEPENNY out as winning. Not a chance in hell. The race is between TPG and ST. At this point, I would probably vote for SWEENEY, just because I like the show better - but there's no denying that in a weaker season for revivals, PAJAMA GAME would win.

....Um, who said he did?
ETA: that was for c&a.
Maybe they got better on the accents> I know two people sitting row N who had no problem either...
I agree, Sweeney will probably win. Pajama Game was fantastic on all levels, but it still is the Pajama Game. And 3Penny and Sweeney are hundreds of times better as far as source material.
Sweeney seems to be pleasing crowds every night and is a fantastic production.
I actually prefer the 3Penny material to Sweeney...and I did enjoy the production a lot.

"mack doesnt marry into "high society" - the peachums are the leaders of the bums and swindlers..."
Directed towards me? Nouveau Riche means in the scheme of things newly rich, not high society and um...criminal means, well,criminal...

Posted: 4/3/06 at 11:56amI'm more and more convinced this revival of THREEPENNY is probably going to get some really divided reviews - I think it's possible the Times will actually pan it, so I'd say SWEENEY is definitely the far and away favorite for the revival Tony at this point.
