re: the movie -

The story on stage makes a lot more sense than it ever did in the movie, though. Things like why the Childcatcher even bothers catching children, or why exactly Caractacus and Truly end up at the Baron's party are a little bit easier to figure out. In the movie, a lot feels skipped, making everything all the more confusing.
It's pretty similar, except that they added some things. If you liked the movie, you'll like the show. If you haven't seen the movie, though, you probably won't miss anything. The songs from the movie are in the show, but there are some additions. The plotline is basically the same, though Vulgaria seems to be more like a real place in the show than it does a figment of Caractacus' imagination in the film.
