Has anyone else heard about this? Our local news was interviewing Dolly Parton and she said she was writing the music for a new musical for Broadway based on 9-5... What is this??
She's said that all over the place, but besides her saying it, I haven't heard anything else, so it is probably in the early stages.
I have been saying for years that it would make a great stage musical. Anyone else think that Lilias White would be great in the Lilly Tomlin role? I really hope that it does indeed come to fruition.
I also heard that Dolly was working on a musical called 'Butterfly' based on her life.

there's also been talk of Kristin Chenoweth in a made-for-TV movie of Dolly's life.
Yay! I hadn't heard she was doing it, but more than once, I said on this very board how much I would love a musical version of 9 to 5 with a score by Dolly. I bet she read this board! I am so awesome. Dolly loves me.
Kristin Chenoweth as Dolly Parton is a sin! I have met and worked with Dolly and she is genuinely one of the nicest down to earth people on the face of the earth. I cannot imagine Kristen playing her in any way shape or form.
I adore Dolly. Can't even imagine anyone playing her.
Kristin is wonderful, but the only thing she has in common with Dolly is being petite and being raised in the South.
Kristian actually did a little Dolly impersonation on the David Letterman show a few weeks back and was amazingly good.
I could see her stuffing her bra to do it.
"Kristin Chenoweth as Dolly Parton is a sin!"
I think Kristin would disagree. Apparently, she knows her scripture.
Umm..this exact question was asked three weeks ago.
I though Kristen was from the plains. Isn't she from Oklahoma? That my dear certainly isn't The South. Knowing scriptures from The Bible does not make you a good person to portray Dolly. Besides, Kristen has too much vibrato not to mention too much forehead! :)
Ah, if so, my apologizes. I thought I heard her say in an interview that she was from the South.
