9 to 5 (Gaelen Gilliland) question

Is Gaelen Gilliland in the ensemble or is she just an understudy for multiple roles. On her credit on the 9 to 5 website it just says u/s Judy, Doralee so I just wanted to know if she wasn't on for a role will she still be in the cast.

She's only an understudy. She went on as Kathy this weekend.

She's going on for Mrs. Hart on Friday. They're putting her on a lot recently to allow the cast members to watch the show apparently.

For some reason, they aren't allowed to call her a swing, so they call her an understudy.

Yes, she's in the ensemble regularly but when either Judy (Stephanie j.), or Doralee (Megan Hilty) is out for whatever reason she takes over and a swing replaces Gaelen in the ensemble. I have no idea what happens if both SJB and Megan are sick. lol

Gaelen is a swing; she is not in the ensemble. When Megan and Stephanie are both out (which they haven't been), another understudy goes on. All of the leads have at least two understudies.

It's kind of like her in legally blonde where she played many parts, but thats because there were so many minor roles

wickedlover94- Your talking about a different subject. In LB she played all of those roles nightly. In 9 to 5 she understudies many roles which is a difference.

P.S. is 94 the year you were born in?

Poor Gaelen. She's understudied every role from Madame Morrible to Doralee Rhodes. Will she ever get to originate her own role? She's definitely good enough.

She is very very talented. I worked with her in a production of "High School Musical" this past january where she Ms. Darbus and was absolutely fantastic

As far as I know, Marc and Stephanie are the only two who have been out... Janney and Hilty are running pretty solid track records.
