A 'Newbie' asks a question!

Hello All,

Although I've been reading and enjoying this board for several years, this is the first time I've summoned up the courage to post.

I've loved Broadway and theatre forever... or at least ever since I was given my first Original Cast recording in 1956 - yes... it was 'My Fair Lady', and I fell in love. I'm still in love, and actually work in the business.

I began trekking to NYC as early and often as I could, and I've seen some wondrous (and not so wondrous!) performances in my time. (And I saved every single Playbill.)

Some highlights: Alec McCowan in 'Hadrian the Seventh'; the original productions of 'Cabaret', 'Mame', 'Hello Dolly', 'Follies','Applause', and 'Coco' (a high and a low, actually - the show was dreadful, Hepburn was mesmerizing). And then there was Rosemary Harris in 'An Inspector Calls', Helen Hayes on tour in several plays... the list goes on and on...

Some not so greats, but still remembered: Nicol Williamson's 'Hamlet', 'Aspects of Love'... I'll stop there.

And now my question: I'll be in NY in a couple of weeks with my 85 year old mother. We have tickets to 'Love, Loss & What I Wore', 'The 39 Steps', and 'A Little Night Music', and we're looking forward to all of them. However Mum would really like to see 'Billy Elliot' - I saw it just after it opened and enjoyed it thoroughly, and I concur, I think she'll love it. I've looked everywhere for discount tickets for the show, and have been unsuccessful. Does anyone have any suggestions for finding lower priced but good seats, or knowledge of an upcoming price reduction? I believe it's sometimes listed on the TDF board, but I'd prefer to have the tickets in hand before I arrive in the City.

Thanks... I've seen that one, but it's only good until August 1st. I'm looking for August 7th (matinee) or August 8th (7:30).

It's been on tkts pretty regularly as of late.
