A Broadway Affair to Forget
The show is a must see for anyone contemplating marriage. For everybody else, not so much. Its pleasures are subtle, its subject grim, it lyrics stilted and its dialogue anachronistic. Intermittently funny, it's mostly serious

From Harvey's blog:
"But I am happy to report that USA TODAY, VARIETY, HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, THE NEW YORK POST, ASSOCIATED PRESS and tons of others got what we are doing and embraced the show with praise and enthusiasm."
The show got the Outer CRITICS Circle Award Nomination for Best Musical. So, it's not as bad as it seems at all.
Metro? AMNY? Who cares? Yes, the NYT stings. But Brantley hated Caroline, Or Change, which I consider one of the greatest musicals ever written.

"I have also met him in person, and I find him to be quite funny actually. Arrogant and often misinformed, but still funny."

Well, I this show had just too much positive buzz before the opening, it could be no means meet these expectations. It's probably an interesting show in some ways.
But it's not a bad thing to detect that when shows don't really work on many aspects then the reviews may find out and if so many pan it there is a good chance they're not totally wrong.
So I see an exciting race for the best musical tony. I don't think any candidate is dead sure bet yet. But I actually wouldn't count out any yet. Neither A Catered Affair, nor YF and to some extent neither TLM. And watch out, possibly a miracle happens and the critics all of a sudden like Cry-Baby (which I'm pretty sure they won't though)...
