Well in a bit more than a year this much anticipated revival will open. The question remains....... where??? So folks where do you think it will play? The Belasco, the Palace?
It should only play The Shubert but that more than likely will not happen.
WonderBoy -- I was just going to say the SAME thing! I think it needs to be a fairly intimate Broadway house, wherever it goes.

It should play at the Shubert... but that won't happen.
I dont know that I can see it at the Belasco though...
If in Heaven you don't excel, you can always party down in hell...
I heard they want a small house.
YEARS AGO, before the original production closed, there were some discussions about moving the show to a theatre like THE MUSIC BOX, where the show would probably have continued to sell incredibly well.
But at any rate, it's too early to speculate theatres, because there's no what to know what will be on Broadway and what will have closed one year from now...
I know right! I just cannot imagine it in any other theatre ya know.
So can I CJR! The Belasco is a great space, it looks like it could be a "rehersal space". While seeing Follies this past weekend up at The Barrington Stage, I got the chance to meet Donna McKechnie she said she is so looking forward to its opening, but wasn't too sure where it would be.

Let's not forget that the stage has to be a certain length to accommodate this show. Probably not a problem for Broadway houses, but definitely a tour issue.
You're telling me! I've done the show on tour and in same houses you ahve a little room and others you are right on top of each other!
Sorry to thread-jack, but this question made me think (for some reason) about the La Cage revival. Wouldn't it have been WONDERFUL if that would have gone into Studio 54 and have a more "earthy" feel that it did? I think Chorus Line needs the same feel -- a small theater that feels as if it's "dark" to give a sense that it's actually an audition. If it feels to commercial a revival, it's going to lose some of the character of the piece.
It 100 perecent definitely will NOT be the Shubert unless a fire burns all the costumes and sets and Mike Nichols doesnt want to remount it.
It could end up at something like THE IMPERIAL. DRS probably will be done in a year.
yea i can't wait for the SF tryout!! Its here in SF July-Aug 2006, then it moves to Broadway in September of 2006.
Is there any talk of casting? Will it be all new faces on those 8X10s?

Wonder if in the opening, they will be able to dim the exit lights like they did in the original?
I don't think that Bob or Baayork will allow it to become commercialized. I agree that it needs to come into a small house which ever one it is.
I think the Imperial is a bit to "clean" ACL needs a space that is a bit grittier. The Belasco is in dire need of a renovation and too boot is haunted.
I don't think the producers of ACL are going for "gritty." The Shubert, where it originally played, has always been one of the most desirable theatres in NYC.
If anything this revival is going to sanctify the material -- I'm sure they won't settle for anything other then a first rate house -- The Imperial, The Broadway, etc.
I thought the Rounabout now owns 54.
I don't think I like the Studio 54 idea for La Cage Aux Folles. I saw the show right before it closed. It was such a huge production and elaborate and it needs to be glitzy and tacky, but glamourous, but I see where you're coming from.
