A Chorus Line Revival
A Chorus Line Revival#0
Posted: 9/5/04 at 12:02amI think it's about time for one! If there was one, who would you like to see in it?
re: A Chorus Line Revival#1
Posted: 9/5/04 at 12:47amUnknowns. Total and complete unknowns that just happen to be some of the best triple-threats on Broadway. No names, please, it's too distracting. The audience should care about and be rooting for the characters not the actors (which was the case during the entire original 15 year run).

I agree with Margo, uknowns. Could be great to go to the show and see a lot of new triple-threats.
And since I want a revival as much as you... I will wait 5 years more.
re: A Chorus Line Revival#3
Posted: 9/5/04 at 12:49amAnd A CHORUS LINE is one show (thankfully) that could pull it off. In this day and age of stunt casting to get seats filled, A CHORUS LINE is enough of a name in itself to fill the house. Margo is completely right that it would have to be complete unknowns if we're at all to believe these people are struggling actors.
re: A Chorus Line Revival#4
Posted: 9/5/04 at 1:02amYup. Definitely unknowns. Sorry I don't have any original thoughts there. Updated On: 9/5/04 at 01:02 AM
re: A Chorus Line Revival#5
Posted: 9/5/04 at 1:03amUnless.........you could get the casts of THE BRADY BUNCH and THE PARTRIDGE FAMILY together and do the show with them.

Cassie is perhaps the one exception. McKechnie became "slightly" famous because of the "Music and the Mirror" number and the Tony (and the brief marriage to Bennett). Ann Reinking was "sort of" known when she took over the role, but not really famous.
If they wanted to have a slightly etablished dancer come in as Cassie, it would probably be OK -- but, NO STARS, under any circumstances. It really destroys the show and from the producers' standpoint, why pay a "name" when the show is a draw without one -- at least I assume so. If the world of Broadway has changed so much in the last 14 years, that the show can no longer sell on name alone and needs to throw in idiotic sitcom stars and other washed up celebrities to pump up the box office, then I'd rather it not be revived at all.
re: A Chorus Line Revival#7
Posted: 9/5/04 at 1:06amBut Margo, I hear Jennifer Love Hewitt can not only act and sing, but she's one hell of a dancer.
re: A Chorus Line Revival#8
Posted: 9/5/04 at 1:06amCan't you just see Jan singing Dance Ten, Looks Three?!?!?
re: A Chorus Line Revival#9
Posted: 9/5/04 at 1:07amI'd much rather see Alice doing it. Grrrrrr
re: A Chorus Line Revival#10
Posted: 9/5/04 at 1:12amoh i'd pay $100 to see Mrs. Brady's scissor kicks during "Music and the Mirror"
re: A Chorus Line Revival#11
Posted: 9/5/04 at 1:14amHey, Margo. Not to turn this into another WICKED thread but does the Wizard still live at Park & 73rd?
re: A Chorus Line Revival#12
Posted: 9/5/04 at 1:22amI wouldn't mind seeing a star in a show, as long as they had legitimate Broadway acting careers and had talent. Nathan Lane and Hugh Jackman, for example.
re: A Chorus Line Revival#13
Posted: 9/5/04 at 1:24amNathan Lane and Hugh Jackman in "A Chorus Line"...ummm..no.
re: A Chorus Line Revival#14
Posted: 9/5/04 at 1:56amIf there's a revival, the only "star" should be the late Michael Bennett's staging.

orchestra & balcony
what they want is
what you see
re: A Chorus Line Revival#16
Posted: 9/5/04 at 2:54amI must echo Margo's sentiments, unknowns. Otherwise, you are betraying the show itself.
re: A Chorus Line Revival#17
Posted: 9/5/04 at 12:33pmI agree that Cassie is the only character that can be played by someone remotely famous. She was once a fairly big star so it could work to have someone known playing her. I could see someone like BeBe Neuworth(sp?) playing her. I know she was in the original but I think she would be a good Cassie. Karen Ziemba would also be amazing as Cassie.

Another vote for unknowns, ahh if only I had 10 million dollars
Le sigh...
re: A Chorus Line Revival#19
Posted: 9/5/04 at 3:06pmMaybe if all of us here pooled our money together we can put ACL back on Broadway

I've got $10 bucks. Anyone else?
Maybe we should have a fundraising drive? We could sell cookies. Or sexual favors. Whatever it takes.
re: A Chorus Line Revival#22
Posted: 9/5/04 at 3:53pmI think Zack could be a star w/ out ruining the feel of the show.
re: A Chorus Line Revival#23
Posted: 9/5/04 at 4:46pmWell...I dunno. I guess out of all the characters, Zack could have a "known" actor playing him. But the star of the show should be the show. So maybe someone who's respected on Broadway, but not a big star to the larger world.
re: A Chorus Line Revival#24
Posted: 9/8/04 at 12:01amok - cassie is supposed to be a little old but bebe newirth and karen zeimba are WAY TOO OLD. i have no idea of who's a good dancer, who's young and a star.... drawing a blank....
