How does Sweet Charity, a show that basically closed out of town, get a cast album before La Cage?

Can anyone tell me ?

The Producers of La Cage are tone deaf, obviously. All they can hear is money. There will not be a recording of Daniel Davis singing "Song on the Sand." It breaks my heart. Wonder what Jerry Hermann thinks?
