Last weekend someone played me Pat Benatar singing, "If he walked into my life" and "Can't help lovin that man".. From some album she made in that 70's before he reached “rock goddess” status..

This was a gorgeous voice with a really nice chest belt and of course she had that very solid soprano upper extension...and she knew what to do with the material…some lovely phrasing…

The rumor was she was supposed to replace Ronstadt in "Pirates of Penzance" but her at the time was becoming so immense that it became impossible to take time away from the “record business machine”....

She still singing and there’s still a voice there (as evidenced by this years "VH1: Diva’s Live" where she sang with Lisa-Marie Presley and wiped the floor with her)…

It’s still not too late to get some little club act together loaded with standards…hell maybe she can even replace Melanie in "Chicago"...

Yeah, Benatar has a lot of opera training and was all set to be an opera singer full-time until she was lured away by Satan (I'm kidding.)

I saw her in concert a couple years back and she still rocked and sounded stronger than ever vocally. She did some of her blues material which was really tasty and she was really into it.

She also sang 'Hit Me With Your Best Shot' which wasn't quite so emotional!

Heard the blues material as well..quite good...

Her reputation is also flawless..no diva antics...kind..funny..married 20 odd years...

She was on Howard Stern a few years ago and they did a duet of "Hit me with you best shot"..and he can't sing..

and she shouted..

"Oh My GOD...find the key, Howard..find the key!!"

I'll eat a prune when you actually post something correct in both grammar and spelling and makes a coherent point that is not fraught with banal statements and insufferable superiority.

OMG! I can't believe there's a Pat Benatar post here. I just saw her in concert on Saturday. At 50, she looks and sounds amazing. She has a new album that came out this week for anyone interested.

Slash-- not all of us waste our time watching VH1

But anyway,
Didn't she play in the revival of Rocky Horror?

Voice:
I would LOVE to hear that. What album was this with the songs you mentioned? Where did you find it? (I know you're going to tell me that it's out-of-print.)

Oh, I loved Pat! Used to have ALL her albums.

"Do you know ChrisLovesShows?" "Yes. Why, yes he does!"
