Has anyone here seen the 2000 YEAR old man cartoon starring Mel Brooks and Carl Reiner?
It is so funny and the music is funny.
Who would love to see THE 2000 YEAR Old Man made into a musical?
It started out as a record and was later made into a short film.
Very funny stuff.

I'd LOVE to see 2000 Year Old Man On Broadway, but it would only spark endless debates if it really was "original" or if you had to "get" Mel Brooks humor or if it was a rip off of Producers and then the score would get slagged off as Tripe...God Forbid pood David Yazbeck try to do a musical that season!
No, seriously, I love the 2000 Year Old Man (I was singing "A LION is EATING my FOOT off" here alone in my office when I saw your post), but it really works best as a 2-man improv. I can't imagine it working if they opened it up with a big cast.

Oh boy! Does THAT bring back memories! My favorite part is the Gregorian Chant: "What shape is the world?"
"Flaaaaaat"
"What happens when you come to the end?"
"You faaaall oooooff."
Seriously, I agree with JoeKV99. It would be a great two-man improv, but it might lose something if opened to a big cast. But maybe a small ensemble cast? Regardless, it's time somebody considered doing something with it. There's probably at least one generation who has never heard of it.
"Don't shush me! I have a right to be loud! I'm gonna die soon!" - The 2000 Year Old Man (Mel Brooks)
Wouldn't mind it!
I feel like it would do better Off-Broadway.
Hey, Spamalot mainly appeals to Monty Python Fans...So cand 2000 Year Old Man the Musical.
An episode of the Simpsons was just on where Homer was a limo driver and his first customer was Mel and Homer made him do the skit. Then Chief Wiggum acquired Mel and did the skit - only Wiggum wanted to be Mel Brooks and wanted Mel to be Carl Reiner and Mel BRooks says, "I don't wanna be Carl Reiner! I hate Carl Reiner!"
I want to produce that!
I wanna help!
I wanna be a producer
Producing Mel Brooks' shows all day
I wanna be a producer
And find pretty girls to...
Well, I'll help.
Billy Crystal talked about the 2000 year old man tonight.
I finally saw 700 Sundays.
A great show but it was sooooooooooooooooo long.
I did standing room for 2 hours 48 minutes and could not stand another minute. I thought I WOULD FALL.
