Was just wondering what you guys think of this recording? I actually like Buckleys Desiree and I love that the ENTIRE show. including book scenes.. I also like Maria Friedmans Charlotte. Much better than her Petra (although I do like her "Millers Son").

Just wondering what you guys thought.

I've not heard the recording, but I saw Betty Buckley play the role at Casa Manana in Ft. Worth and she was terrible. She is totally wrong for the role in performance being totally icy and imperious. Desiree is an earth mother.

The recording was broadcast on the BBC, one of a series of broadcasts they did of complete musicals. No commercial release. Buckley ended up doing if after Faye Dunnaway was announced and pulled out, and then Diana Rigg was announced and pulled out.
