Now, I could be way off, but ya never know. I've been thinking of Matthew Morrison being in Wicked for a while now and didn't know what you guys thought of that. I just saw him in a picture at Wicked day and the idea came back to me. I can definitely understand if he wanted a bigger role than Fiyero (already being in Hairspray and The Light in the Piazza) but i figured it was something to at least think about. Now, what do you guys think?

P.S. Did anyone else see he cut his hair?!?!?!?!?!

I disagree.

Winged monkeys need curly hair.

He already WAS offered the role of Fiyero a couple of years ago and reluctantly accepted it. He wound up not doing the show and getting "The Light in the Piazza" instead, no doubt a better career move. Everyone on this board forgets that these talents that you know and love DON'T WANT TO BE REPLACEMENTS. Got it? Sometimes it's better to sit on the sidelines and wait for a great NEW role instead of taking one for the fans.

No way.

why should this man wallow in such a show? He's obviously 100x more talented then that

Matt has been tapped to do a reading/workshop (soon) of an eagerly awaited musical where he'll be the lead character which suits him perfectly.

Thank you FosterChild, the posters never get that simple fact. It's so much more career enhancing, especially if you're a business minded actor (I know, those are few and far between), to sweat it out and wait for just the right opportunity rather than get your rocks off thinking it's going to do anything for you to be the 65th green witch. Of course, unless, you can't originate role after role. It's far more difficult and therefore, the gap between jobs seems longer. Often, it's quite deliberate. Perfect example, imagine if Ramirez had chomped at the bit everytime they begged her to play Elphaba, instead of waiting for something like Spamalot to come along and worried that people would think less of her since it had been 4 years since she last appeared on the great white way ( A Class Act), I wouldn't be typing her name as I sit and breath. No Tony, no Grey's anatomy. It's not about padding a resume', it's about lasting impressions.

I believe Craig is referring to CATCH ME IF YOU CAN which has a score by the HAIRSPRAY team, Shaiman and Wittman.

Matthew played the lead role in a previous (and quite star-studded) workshop of the show.

He was slated to do a Guettel workshop in the fall.

That is not new or a secret.

I can't believe turtle Guettel finished the music so fast.

It must be Catch Me If You Can in which he would SIZZLE.

Craig, are you authorized to share any other information on the upcoming reading? I've been excited about this project since I heard of it. I assume Sara Gettelfinger is still involved...what about Rachelle Rak? Nathan Lane? (I kind of doubt that one...)
