Granted, musicians can be engineered differently for a recording than would be mixed in a theater, but when I think about how much I appreciated the musicianship on the recent "Floyd Collins" recording, there's no question in my mind that musicians should be compensated on par with every other participant of a show (actor, tech, etc....).
