Good Response Margo
matthew morrison's career seems to be going onwards and upwards, good on him.
If it isnt a good play well them the breaks, and at least he takes chances.

Posted: 9/18/05 at 2:40ami think Roundabout, a non-profit, owns the theater so, yeah all the shows they put on fall under non-profit. if they wanted to do a commercial run of a show they would likely transfer it to another theater so they can maintain the season schedule which is set up a year in advance.

Posted: 9/18/05 at 8:17amWell it may not be a GAY play...but trust me when I say there are PLEANTY of homosexual referenses and all of you who seem to be Matt-sentric will love his full man-on-man kiss in the second act.

Posted: 9/18/05 at 8:48amYes, Roundabout owns the American Airlines Theatre (as well as Studio 54 and the Laura Pels Theatre), so every show that plays there is non-for-profit.

LaCage - thanks for the review, as I am curious what changes might be made after having seen the premiere production here in SoCal (at SCR.) The overall impression I walked out of the theatre with was "The Goat Light" - but not nearly as realized.
Ms. Guilbert is reprising her role, and she was pretty funny here, as well. Although, I wasn't all that impressed with using the cliched 'foul-mouthed older woman' for laughs. She made the most of it, though. And just for the record, she was also Millie in the old Dick Van Dyke show, so her comic chops are well honed

you may think its nuts but some people skip over the first post and read the rest of the thread when its a review on something they havent seen so they dont hear the details in the review. its just polite to point out when youre gonna give something away.

There must be something wrong with me because all the actors that New York theater types think are devastatingly handsome or supernally beautiful, strike me as being only so-so.
Eye of the beholder, I suppose.

Just bumping this...eventhough I saw the play a bit ago, and believe it could have improved acting/chemistry wise, I still stand firm in my beliefs that its just not a great play.
Anyone else see this play during its preview period? Tonight is opening night. Where is the Bwayworld logo for it?!?!

I've seen it. I didn't notice any changes to the script from what people have already said about it. It is still like an hour and 45 minutes without an intermission.
The critics will be there tonight...reviews tomorrow...

No Intermission???
Hmmm...thats interesting. They took one when I saw it. 45 minute Act I, Intermission, 45 Minuite Act II, no intermission, 15 minute Act III.
I guess it COULD be done w/out an intermission. But the reveling in the shocker at the end of a VERY DRY Act I during an intermission was nice.
