I too have always liked B&TB. I've seen it twice on Broadway, and done it once regionally. When I was doing the show it was a limited run, but I was so entertained by it that I could easily imagine myself sitting through it eight times a week for years without getting sick of it. Seeing and hearing the reactions from the kids made it more worthwhile, too. It's a great feeling to see kids excited about theatre -- and it's actually good theatre that's entertaining for adults as well as for kids.
The last time I saw it on Broadway I noticed that a lot of more contemporary or out-of-character things had been added that I didn't remember from before. I didn't like that at all. I think they should trust the show more, and trust that the young people in the audience will follow it -- it is funny and moving and exciting on its own, and doesn't need to be cheapened with that kind of stuff.

It's closing, but i wish they could re-vamp the set and take it on a small farwell tour across the US.
Anyone think the reason that Schumacer siad it won't be a huge blowout for, of all shows, because he didn't produce it? Or because he's modern and slightly bitter?
I hope the show picks up the pace and could be as enchanted as the original before it closes, but knowing Schumacer...

Posted: 3/9/07 at 3:51pmI have a very honest question about the original post. Based on what you said, what would make me decide to see this performance over watching the cartoon at home?

I can't speak for the original poster, but I will ALWAYS choose a live theatre version over a filmed version. Once you've seen a film, that's it, you've seen it. It's never going to change. And no matter how much you're enjoying it, you've no relationship with the performers. Live theatre is never the same two shows running, and having performers playing to you as an audience rather than just blindly to a camera will never not be thrilling. :3

Posted: 3/9/07 at 7:31pmBlanchard was actually the Beast/Gaston standby in Toronto, then played Gaston at the Palace, then became the Beast there and moved to the Lunt as the Beast. So he's been with the show in one way or another since before the Toronto company closed and has been the Beast since at least 1999, possibly 1998.

People actually still want to see BEAUTY so it is on TKTS on and off, it still sells out, even at discount tkts.
You can always get a tkt to TARZAN.
