Sells film rights to his play 'Steady Rain'

It's been a solid few months for playwright Keith Huff.

First, A-list Hollywood talent Daniel Craig and Hugh Jackman signed on to star in Huff's play, "A Steady Rain," which starts Broadway previews at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre on Sept. 10. And now Huff has sold the film rights to James Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. WIlson, who are also among the producers of the play.

Huff will adapt the screenplay. The deal is in the mid-six figures against $1 million.

Huff, who is repped by Gersh and John Bauman, has written two other plays, "The Detective's Wife" and "Tell Us of the Night," which complete a trilogy that begins with "Rain." Though Craig and Jackman have not been cast in the film version, the Bond producers may be eyeing a potential franchise for two stars with huge international appeal and proven dramatic chops.

I think we can safely assume that Jackman and Craig will star.

Plays probably have better chances of being adapted for a film version than most musicals.

Will there be a midnight screening for this one -- just like an Amex presale

Yeah, I highly doubt they'll be replaced it's not like David Pittu and Raul Esparza are playing the roles in the play. These are some of the most bankable film and-now stage stars around. They also have great international appeal which is a huge factor in the casting of Hollywood films.
