I seem to recall reading somewhere that Faye Dunaway had been picked to play Norma Desmond in a production of Sunset Boulevard -- the LA production. Am I correct? Or is this a figment of my imagination?

She was, but wasn't very good and was sacked, at great financial cost to the production company & ALW (again)
