I saw it a few years ago in San Francisco. It was decent, but I likely wouldn't make an effort to see it again. The story itself was interesting, but I didn't find any of the characters particularly engaging or interesting.

Not sure what changes may have been made between then and now.

I saw it over the weekend. It's an almost entirely new cast for this production, with the only holdover being Jonah Platt, who is very good as the put-upon husband. It's well staged and nicely performed, but it's not a great show. The music is very bland and forgettable, and it doesn't really capture the spirit of the era (the show is set in 1969). They are advertising this as Broadway bound, but I wouldn't hold my breath, unless some big star suddenly became interested in the piece.

I saw this years back when it was in SF and absolutely loved it!! I’m glad it’s getting some life again. I’d definitely make the trip - even if to just support a new musical! I may or may not have recorded some audio accidentally from the audience and still listen to this day

Ha, I also opened this thread to chime in to say “I haven’t seen it in NJ, but I saw it in San Francisco.”

My recollection is that the show was….fine. It held my attention. Got better as it went along, as the character arcs developed. Nothing offensively bad except for some really base-level expository lyrics, and I recall finding the teenage daughter character to be something of a caricature. Otherwise, the show was passable, but pretty bland. I’d be surprised if it stirred enough up enough passion in investors/ticket-buyers to get to Broadway.

But also, the SF production was like, 4 or 5 years ago? I have no idea what kind of shape it’s in now.
