Just saw the movie again,i think this would make a great musical. it already has one amazing song, "Only Hope" sung beautifully by Mandy Moore and all around i think it would work well.
What do you think?

...Please understand that it's still strange and frightning...

I don't know about a musical..it would probably work! but I love Mandy Moore, she is great and doesn't get enough respect...though I will say her singing "suddenly seymour" with adam pascal is horrible!

I absolutely love this movie!!!! But I don't think it would translate well to the stage.

That movie was good although the beginning-middle part was a bit slow. I'm not sure how it would 'play out' on stage but then again, there were other shows I could never see staged and they are and they are doing pretty good so, you never know...

It would be cool to see it as a musical, with the addition of a few new songs. Actually it'd work either way, play or musical.

Funny that the first version of Suddenly Seymour I heard was the misstep with Adam and Mandy. Adam was fine, but Mandy singing in that sweet little head voice? Blah. (I mean would it kill her to give the chest voice a shot?)

I don't WANT to live in what they call "a certain way." In the first place I'd be no good at it and besides that I don't want to be identified with any one class of people. I want to live every whichway, among all kinds---and know them---and understand them---and love them---THAT's what I want! - Philip Barry (Holiday)

I don't think Mandy Moore knows what chest voice is.

But I still love her and think that she is the most adorable thing.

I have the sheet music to Only Hope. I got it from Colony a few weeks ago.

A lot of Mandy's old stuff and some of her newer stuff is her chest voice..it's good too! I remember seeing that performance of Suddenly Seymour and thinking it was the best thing ever--that was when I knew NOTHING about musical theatre...ha

Anyone have this clip of Suddenly Seymour? I've seen pics and that pairing shocked the hell out of me (Adam and Mandy) but I'd still be interested in hearing it for myself.

As for A Walk to Remember, well I wasn't a huge fan of the movie myself but I could see it working fairly well as either a musical or a play with the addition of a few songs. I don't know, the movie was a little too "cutesy" for me but that's just my taste I guess. It'd still be interesting if they were to try to adapt it to stage.

I just had to laugh when 10 minutes before the ending she just says "Oh yeah, by the way I'm gonna die tomorrow. Just FYI."
It was almost as bad as Leelee Sobieski blurting out that she has knee cancer in HERE ON EARTH.

I'm sure joeyjoe will be joining this thread anytime now - it's one of his favorite films. I did Only Hope in my cabaret act last fall - I think it's a beautiful song and I really enjoyed the film. Not quite sure it would make a good musical - but it's definitely enjoyable.

"I don't really get the ending, all i can go with is when after several months,Judith saw Pat sang, and later she kissed him on the toilet, after that the story back to where Pat went down from the stage after he'd sung, and he went to the italian lady.I just don't get it,what Judith exatcly meant when he kissed Pat that she had seen, and did Pat end up together with The Italian Lady? Please help me,thank u very much!" Quote from someone on IMDB in reference to a movie he/she didn't understand. Such grammar!

Having performed alongside Mandy in many shows here in the Orlando area before she "hit it big", I will say that the girl is a wonder onstage. Her belting out "Adelaide's Lament" will forever be stuck in my mind as absolutely thrilling. I'm always shocked to hear how softly she tends to sing nowadays, but I guess that's the whole pop machine for you.

Mandy's version of Elton's "Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters" is sweet.

"The gods who nurse this universe think little of mortals' cares. They sit in crowds on exclusive clouds and laugh at our love affairs. I might have had a real romance if they'd given me a chance. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter

That's not how the movie went at all! Watch it again. I adore the movie, but can't see it onstage. Mandy is wonderful, I love her voice and would love to see her on Broadway!

Yeah she doesn't say that at all, not even close to verbatim. But I do like this movie and I guess it could work, just not too wild about the idea. I've always respected Mandy Moore, I've heard she's very friendly and contributes her own time to a lot of charity. She's def one of the better teen idols out there unlike Britney and Cristina etc. It's def a better idea over Legally Blonde the Musical tho, agh!
