Posted: 10/11/04 at 4:23pmHas it really been over a year since it's had a show? I've never been inside the Cort. Is it only suitable for plays or small musicals? Is that the reason not many shows are in this theatre?

Last show to play the Cort was the infamous Bobby Boland

"Last show to play..."
Using that term loosely, of course.

Posted: 10/11/04 at 5:03pmThe Cort has about 1,200 seats. The interior is lovely (though I remember feeling the back of the orchestra under the mezz overhang as being a little cramped). It is perfectly suited for small musicals, and several have played there, including Sarafina!, A Year With Frog and Toad, Kat and the Kings, but most famously, The Magic Show. The two big liabilities it has are 1) the second balcony and 2) the theatre's location east of Broadway.
