Right now I'm listening to the Prologue of the ITW Revival Cast Recording.
Jack has a line where he says: "Mother, no! He's the best cow!" and then Jack's mother sings "Look at her!" etc. etc. etc.
Okay, Jack referred to Milky White as a he, and his mother referred to Milky White as a she. It looks like Jack made the mistake by saying "he"...
But if you think about it, if Chad Kimball was inside of the Milky White suit, who really made the mistake?
lol...I was just thinking about this. (And this just proves that I have no life, thinking about this, home, at 11:55 P.M.
)
Are there any other strange mistakes you've caught in cast recordings?

haha you're right, now that i think about it, he says he and she says she. wierd. very observant. i'm impressed.
true.. but Jack isn't exactly known for his mental capacity. Perhaps it's just an indication that he doesn't even know the sex...

Milky-White produces milk.. hence, it is a SHE..
Besides, the cow was originally played by Kate Reinders amnd she alternated with another girl I believe.. during rehearsals, the girls were found to be not strong enough to do it, so Chad took the role.....

I know that Milky White is a she...just found it amusing at the moment. ![]()
And I didn't know about a girl playing MW first! God, that costume must be hell if two girls couldn't do that...

OK, this is odd. When I saw ITW on cable, Milky White was a statue. Nobody in any costume at all. Have they changed that or did they do it different for the video taping?
How is it a "mistake"? In the script, Jack's Mother says to Jack, "How many times must I tell you? Only she's can give milk." Not sure if that line is on either recording ... it's been a long time since I listened to them. But Jack does have gender issues with the cow, at least in the opening scene.

I was just reading a copy of the script, and I guess it isn't a mistake, because Jack DOES say "he" and his mother says "she."
Hmm...why would he have said "he" then?

Milky White was a prop in the original Broadway production. In the revival they had the role played by an actual actor.
She ends that section saying "Sometimes I fear you're touched." Meaning she thinks he's dim or stupid for not understanding the difference between a male or female cow.
I often wondered how they got the mouth to flap and eat the things in the original. Remote Control or something?

Magruder-
Your answer is probably right! Thanks! I was just wondering about that...

A compartment opened on the upstage side of the cow, and I believe the mouth and tongue were operated by the Baker's Wife or Jack as the objects were swallowed. I can't remember who is on the upstage side of the cow at that point.
yeah i also think they had a door at the bottom of the cow so they could get all the ingrediants out of it during intermission. By the way, Jack says "he" because he doesn't know that only women cows can give milk. They cut out the joke in the recording. She says "it's a she.How many times must i tell you? only SHES can give milk." If you watch the original cast on tape, it shouldn't be confusing anymore

Did Jack's mother make the statement in the revival? I don't remember hearing it...
yes she did. when she said "what in heavens name do you think you're doing? Having a cow INSIDE the house?" Then Jack says "A warm enviornment might be just what Milky White needs to produce his milk." Then she says her comment.
