A tantalizing tid-bit from Carol Burnett

At the end of this interview about ONCE UPON A MATTRESS, Carol Burnett mentions another, tantalizing project she is cooking up...which sounds like one of those extended skits on her classic varietiy show ("A Salute to Stephen Sondheim", a Salute to RKO", etc.). And that's a good thing.

"She is talking to CBS now about starring in another musical special, which would be built around the music of famous composers like Cole Porter.
"What we would want to do is salute someone like Rodgers and Hammerstein and have a little one-act story to go along with it," she says.
She isn't holding her breath that it will happen soon. Estates have to approve of the use of music, and casting will be tedious.
John Lithgow has told her he'd like to do it. Her wish list would include everybody from Eric McCormick to Queen Latifah to Kristin Chenoweth.
"I don't know if it will happen," she says. "After all, just look at the problems."

re: A tantalizing tid-bit from Carol Burnett

you just reminded me....Cinderella, with Julie is on sometime this month on PBS......
It is ridiculous to set a detective story in New York City. New York City is itself a detective story... AGATHA CHRISTIE, Life magazine, May 14, 1956
