I'am currently doing a research project on Adolph Green I have been having trouble finding detailed information on his life and career. If anyone has any information on him I would really appreciate it if you could post anything websites, book suggestions, places to write to etc. I'am especially intrested in his relationship with Betty Comden, any interesting childhood stories and/or his comedy process with Betty Comden. thank you so much for reading this I would appreciate anything you could give me
They wrote a book a few years ago 'The New York Musicals of Comden and Green' which is probably available in your local library. It not only talks about their shows, but has discussions about their relationship while writing them.
I'd skip Betty Comden's 1996 autobiography 'Off Stage' which is mostly about her non-professional life
You could write to his widow, Phyllis Newman (maybe through Broadway Cares, since the Women's Health Initiative is named after her). I've met her several times, before and after Adolf's death, and she loved to talk about him!
