Just something I want to see what others think of.

I was thinking about AIDA the other day and how it could be SO much better...even after Toni Braxton leaves.

Delete the numbers "Another Pyramid" and "Like Father, Like Son." The essential plot points in those numbers can be turned to dialogue, but those songs have to go. The choreography is very cheesy and rather pointless, so pointless it ruins the tone of the show.

Think about it, if those two songs were cut, wouldn't the show be ever so much better?

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

Oh my Oh my. Another Pyramid is my favorite number in the show, and probably the one I look forward to the most. Of course, John Hikock was a major reason for that - he's got an incredible presence. I love what my friends and I call the "boy band dance break" in Pyramid, and cheesy or not I love it - it's very energizing.

Both of those songs are numbers I absolutely love, so I have to go with NO on your question.....

I enjoy "Like Father Like Son" the danceing could use to be changed but I like the song in genral it was the song that stuck in my head the most when I saw it. I don't know why but it did and i like it.

Even though I agree that those songs don't do much for the plot, I still enjoy them very much. The dancing is enthralling and there always tends to be a good Zoser around to sing them. I will say that the transition between the dialogue and the beginning of "Like Father Like Son" is absolutely ridiculous, but other than that, they add a different type of entertainment to the show, and you need those "bad guy" songs around.

I LOVE listening to "Like Father Like Son" because I think Adam sounds great...I love how he stretches the "Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii'm not chip off any block". (Then again, Adam could probably get up there and sing "Mary Had a Little Lamb" and I'd think it was the most beautiful thing I'd ever heard...)

I never listen to Another Pyramid on the CD, but I actually enjoy Sting's version of it on the celebrity Aida album.

I really don't think they should change anything. Not every number is going to be amazing.
