I was just reading through some of the news links in the news box thing on the top of the page, and I got to the link about Disney casting 'On the Record'. It says it was the first Disney musical (Aida, B&tB, Lion King and London's Mary Poppins) not based on a movie.
Aida wasn't a movie, was it? I thought it was based on an opera...
"Although it draws largely on material from previous Disney movies, ranging from before "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" to after "The Lion King," "On the Record" has the distinction of being the first Disney stage musical not based entirely on an earlier movie."
I figured Disney movies were pretty well known, but apparently not to Cleveland.com. Aida will probably be the first Disney musical to have a movie based on it lol.
EDIT: Sorry, didn't even see the other thread about this exact same thing!

i think aida could make for a very good animated movie, with a similar character design style to the emporers new groove
"Grease," the fourth revival of the season, is the worst show in the history of theater and represents an unparalleled assault on Western civilization and its values. - Michael Reidel
Your right, jonart, but I don't think Disney is making any more animated films, but will instead be focusing on Toy Story-like animation. I heard they fired their animators... Thats stupid.
Oh well, they'll have to make a live-action movie with the OBC, thats all. Shucks. lol
Before the musical opened, there were tentative plans to make Aida the next animated musical if it did well on stage. Since they have stopped making animated musicals, I doubt that this will ever happen.
