hey guys! i am auditioning for the local production of AIDA in about a month. this is my first kind of contemporary musical so i need help choosing a song for the auditon. i really have my heart set on the parts of either Radames or Mereb. The song cannot be from the show and i want a song that can kind of show off a soulful voice.

Posted: 1/16/05 at 2:55pmWell, for Radames, you want something more rock-ish. No songs come to mind, but I'm sure you can find something that is a combination of rock and soul. Mereb sings more soulful songs.

Well, Elton John songs make the most sense to me! How about "Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word" for a soulful song? Ray Charles liked it.

For a Radames audition (songs that have a rock feel like Fortune Favors the Brave) 30/90 (tick, tick... BOOM!), I'm Free, The Girl Gets Around (FOOTLOOSE), Freedom's Child (THE CIVL WAR), Time Warp (ROCKY HORROR) or any FULL MONTY stuff.
For Amneris (and a My Strongest Suit feel)- "W-O-M-A-N" (Smokey Joe's Cafe), "Bless the Lord" (Godspell), "She Loves to Hear the Music" (The Boy from Oz), "It's a Woman's World" (THE FULL MONTY)
For Mereb- River Won't Flow (Songs for a New World)
And if she'll say, "My darling, I'm yours!" I'll throw away my striped tie and my best pressed tweed, all I really need is the girl...
