In fact, we left about a quarter of the scenery and lighting on the trucks, due to space limitations. This is a sad reality of the "Bus and Truck" tour circuit. Sound suffered slightly due to the venue having no center speaker cluster, and no rigging points to hang our own that we travel with. Not the best situation. We do the best we can, with the space and time we have.

On some occasions, the drums and percussion are in another room because of the size of their equipment, but there has not been one venue where most if not all of the musicians were in the pit. :)

Joeyrj23:
Just wanted to comment again, I saw the show in Macon and the orchestra was great. I have seen the show 6 times previous, so I obviously like the music very much. I must say that the job that ya'll did performing the music was the best of any performance that I have seen. The music itself is one of the major reasons for the success of this show. You are all very talented and I THANK you very much for a great experience. Good luck with the rest of the tour.

Joeyrj23- Nobody ever said that music wasn't live. When I saw the show, I had a problem hearing the words in some of the songs...it seemed like the music was either super loud or the actors mics were goofy. (Which TheatreTech has already cleared up for us)
Ya know it's ironic...I'm listening to the OCR and trying to get into the music. There are some really great songs that stay with you but an equal amount of songs that are only so-so. (I'm blaming this on Sir Elton...)
In any case...I think I'd prefer a touring cast recording rather than the OCR. I think that Marja especially sound better than the voice on OCR (Heather Headley?). To me, the songs sounded better with the touring cast than OCR. (Of course, minus Adam Pascal...but Casey sounds similar to Adam...)

Posted: 1/25/07 at 9:10amWhen I saw it last weekend, the band sounded fine. It looked like everyone was all squished down there, but they were definitely there! It was the mics that were screwing up in the beginning. But after a few minutes it all worked itself out and was fine.
BroadwayBoobs: I'll give all of you who weren't there a hint of who took the pictures ...it rhymes with shameless

I was fortunate to see Aida in Gainesville, and I agree with those here who said it was phenomenal. We thought everyone involved did an amazing job.
One of you mentioned something about a merchandise table. There wasn't one in Gainesville. Can anyone tell me what they had?
We also prefer the cast we saw to the OBC and wish they would do a CD or even DVD of the show.
Thanks guys!
