Caught this last night. It was neither good or bad. It was one of the flattest productions I have seen in a while.
None of the performers are even worth noting. I will say that Danielle Wade was pretty bad, though. She reminded me of Anna Ferris in House Bunny, and she played the role like a dumb confused bimbo.
The set was pretty cool minus the awkward and unwieldy yellow brick road ramp and the cardboard cutout of the Emerald City. The Kansas farm set was nicer than any of the Oz sets. Jon Driscoll's CGI and projection work was definitely the best part of the show IMO. The twister sequence was like a ride at Disneyland.
Andrew Lloyd Webber's new songs are pure sh*t. There's no other way of putting it. Tuneless, boring, trite, and just pointless. The only song that actually did anything for the show was Wonders of the World with Dorothy and Professor Marvel singing together. The Witch's shoe song was laughable. Same with Glinda's random song about home.
Unless you can see this for free, skip it.
