Posted: 6/6/05 at 11:14amif it was...that was bad recording. her voice wasn't strong throughout the entire thing, especially the end.

Posted: 6/6/05 at 11:15ami dont think she was. she sounded so out of breath, i doubt they would put that on a recording.

Posted: 6/6/05 at 11:21amShe couldn't stay with the orchestra (or the orchestra couldn't stay with her), so how could it be a recording?

Posted: 6/6/05 at 11:23amActually, I thought it was Raimerez lip-syncing.

Posted: 6/6/05 at 11:25amIf Christina was, I'm POSITIVE that it would have sounded better!!!!!! So, I am VERY SURE that she wasn't......

Posted: 6/6/05 at 11:27amIf Applegate was mouthing to a recording, I would HATE to hear her live. That performance was dreadful.

Posted: 6/6/05 at 11:30amRamirez wasn't lipsyncing. She had a hard time getting the higher notes out.

Posted: 6/6/05 at 11:32amChristina is a delight in person. She does not have the vocal abilities of Raimerez...noone ever said she did. But she does a great job, is having the time of her life and gives it her all. I think she was quite deserving of a nomination.

Posted: 6/6/05 at 11:32amShe was nominated because of her acting. See the show live and you will understand. Sometimes performances don't translate well to television. Remember that Iscreama Menzel sounded terrible last year too.

Posted: 6/6/05 at 11:42amRight. Applegate is by no means the first performer to royally suck while performing at the Tonys. Marissa Jaret Winokur was awful, as were Idina Menzel and Tonya Pinkins.

Posted: 6/6/05 at 11:48amYou could tell Sara was backing off at the beginning, due to her cold...I think she was afraid she would crack.

Posted: 6/6/05 at 11:49amHer performance is based on her acting foremost...she does such a good job at it, and in the end is so winning, that you forgive that her singing is not quite up to that of Laura Benanti or Audra McDonald. As for her dancing, blame it on the choreography. I think she's up to more than what she's given.
