ASSASSINS NEWS?

Are there any definite plans to bring ASASSINS to Broadway once and for all? I think it would be a huge hit. Not among the mainstream audiences, perhaps, but a cult smash. I know it has been talked about and many rumors abound, but what is the real story? Anyone know? What if it opened the same season as BOUNCE? There would be an interesting Tony awards year.

ASSASSINS was supposed to be produced by the Roundabout. However, I got their season brochure in today's mail and there was no mention of ASSASSINS.

But Roundabout changes their season a lot. I had heard from a rumored cast member that they may be going into rehearsal in February, '04.

I really hope they do justice to Assasins.

Strangely enough, I think they may do OK with Assassins. The set requirements for Assassins are not daunting, so it won't be a fortune for them to mount it. Mantello was slated to direct and I think he's a good choice for it. (I kinda wish he had had a chance to cut his teeth on Assassins before having to tackle a new musical like Wicked.)

As long as they don't close Cabaret at Studio 54 for the show, which was the original plan, I'll be just fine.

Cabaret is starting to wind down. It's mostly running on discounts these days. It can still pay for itself, but comes the fall, I think it may have run its course.

As much as I'd love to disagree with you on that...I have to say that you're right. I was just hoping that maybe Natasha Richardson would come back. Oh well.

I would surmise that CABARET will survive through the holiday season. It'll probably close in the January-February slump.

Ok..this is off topic but George W. and conspiracies were mentioned so I thought I would share this all with you. Go to google.com and type in weapons of mass destruction in the search. Click on "I'm feeling lucky" instead of the normal search and read what comes up closely (it looks like a standard error message). Be sure to click on the I'm feeling lucky button or it doesn't work. It's pretty funny..
