Posted: 1/14/09 at 12:54pmMy 16 yr. old niece is trying out for the very 1st time for a local community theatre doing High School Musical. The audition is asking that they perform either a contemporary pop music song or a musical theatre song. Any suggestions? Also, where can you buy sheet music for any of the suggestions? Thank you.

I would say try the student board for this topic
but I'll give you my $.02, google sheet music for websites (sheetmusicplus.com is one) and you'll find digital music for single songs that you can print out. Or go to your local music store (of any variety, hell, even bookstore have music book sections)
To get an answer for this you'd have to let everyone know her vocal range, her style (is her voice more suited for pop or legit bway) and possibly what role she's going for.

Find a song she already knows and likes and can sing. She's going to be nervous enough. Make sure the song can be sight-read unless you're taking your own accompanist.
Get the music and work on it. A music store or Colony Music in NY which I am sure has a website is your source.
