AVENUE Q TICKET PRICES
AVENUE Q TICKET PRICES#0
Posted: 6/10/04 at 7:52amI went to the Box Office yesterday to buy tickets and could not get decent seats for anytime over the summer season: I asked how far out I would have to go to get somewhere mid-orchestra and was told those seats are being saved for the 'special seating' tickets. The 'Special Seating' tickets are priced at $202.50!! In other words, good seats ARE available, but at a premium price. I bought row 'O' for July 31 but came away a bit annoyed that the theatre is now following the "Producers's" lead in charging premium pricing for tickets. I hadn't been to the box office recently - does anyone know if this price structure was in place BEFORE the Tony's?

Posted: 6/10/04 at 8:15amLordy, I thought they were overpriced @ $90!. Well they have shown their true colours.
re: AVENUE Q TICKET PRICES#2
Posted: 6/10/04 at 9:54amthat's a disappointing bit of news... now, apparently, it sucks to be a ticket buyer...
re: AVENUE Q TICKET PRICES#3
Posted: 6/10/04 at 10:11amThis trend of charging exhorbitant prices ("price gouging"?) by the box office is an unfortunate one for John (or Jane) "Q." Public.
re: AVENUE Q TICKET PRICES#4
Posted: 6/10/04 at 10:43amIf you get them way in advance, you can still get the old prices. Check telecharge. What was everyone saying about David beating Goliath? Updated On: 6/10/04 at 10:43 AM

Posted: 6/10/04 at 10:50amAvenue Q raised all top prices tickets to 96.25 with rest charge effective immediately. They are no longer $90. Still better then wickeds 100... but ouch to all ticket prices.
re: AVENUE Q TICKET PRICES#6
Posted: 6/10/04 at 10:52amWICKED's lowest price is lower though than AVENUE Q ever was. It's really worth seeing either show in the balcony, you see everything, you hear everything, and it costs a lot less.

This issue was discussed on another board, so I thought I'd channel the info onto here as well:
- Actually, the $200 "premium seating" tickets were in place waay before the Tonys. And many Broadway shows have them (The Producers' premium tickets are $400, I believe), so Avenue Q is just following the trend. The price is outrageous, I know, but it's happening all around Broadway.
- From what I know, the lowest-priced tickets to Wicked are an obstructed view (can someone verify/correct me on that?).
- I'd say, if you want to save money, just buy the lowest-priced ticket to Avenue Q ($46.50). Even those seats are amazing because the Golden Theatre is so small.

Posted: 6/10/04 at 1:01pmPartial view for WICKED are $55. Balcony seats are $50 on weekends, and $40 during the week. I'd rather be in the balcony, though, after having seen it both ways.

So much for the show having a Heart...even though they wanted all Tony voters to vote with theirs.
Smacks of the very establishment they like to ridicule in the musical...
If I hadn't already seen it, I sure wouldn't now!

That's rather harsh. Again, Avenue Q is not the first show to have premium seating...it's becoming the standard for non-TKTS Broadway shows.
It's not like you can't see the show. With the lottery program and the cheap balcony tickets, you can catch it for a pretty good price.
re: AVENUE Q TICKET PRICES#13
Posted: 6/10/04 at 3:54pm$202? Insane! I sat in row E center orchestra in January for $65. Even if I had money to burn I wouldn't pay that much. Greedy bastards. :@
re: AVENUE Q TICKET PRICES#14
Posted: 6/10/04 at 4:09pmWell I don't see what the big deal is. I mean, there's a lot of shows that do that, its not like Avenue Q just decided to start this trend of doing it. They did not always have the premium seats option but I don't see people complaining about shows like Wicked having them. Its not like you cant get other seats, besides if all the premium seats don't get sold then on the day of the performance you can usually snag one of those for regular price.

Posted: 6/10/04 at 7:21pmDoes Ave, Q have student rush tickets? My boyfriend and I are going to be in NYC the first week of Sept. and are trying to figure out the best way to get tickets. What would you suggest?
re: AVENUE Q TICKET PRICES#17
Posted: 6/10/04 at 11:09pmThey have a lottery, if I'm correct, for $25, two hours before the show.
re: AVENUE Q TICKET PRICES#18
Posted: 6/11/04 at 12:12amThe day the least people go for the lottery is Tuesday nights, even though theres still going to be a lot there thats usually the night the crowd for the lottery is smallest.
re: AVENUE Q TICKET PRICES#19
Posted: 6/11/04 at 12:58pm$25 lottery is WICKED. I'm not sure, but I think AVENUE Q is different.
re: AVENUE Q TICKET PRICES#20
Posted: 6/11/04 at 1:09pmNo, it's the same.

No unless they raised it the lottery for Avenue Q is 21.25.
re: AVENUE Q TICKET PRICES#22
Posted: 6/11/04 at 3:25pmYeah--I paid $21.25, but then again, I went on the first preview.
re: AVENUE Q TICKET PRICES#23
Posted: 6/11/04 at 3:28pmI paid $90 and i have 3rd row tickets orchestra is it a little cheeper because i'm going the last day before the summer season?

They took a page from The Producers playbook.
It seems the puppets are not so wholesome as they wanted everyone to believe. As long as people keep paying these prices, they will keep charging them.
This is not a star driven show so I will wait until all the hoopla dies down & I can get discounted tickets
