rotfl... move over Johnny Depp! I think it's not so much Photoshop as it is excellent makeup. I don't think he's ugly usually but the eyeliner certainly helps with the eyes and well the beard and hair look piraty... uh... do you think real pirates actually wore eyeliner or is it just since Pirates of the Carribean?
How exactly is he doing this and the end of The Apple Tree at the same time? Is his understudy taking over for the entire rest of the run, or just for the nights he'll be away?
His understudy will be performing the shows when Marc is doing 'Pirates'
He worked it into his contract that he could be released from "Apple Tree" to do this the same way he worked it into his "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" contract that he could do "See What I Wanna See"

It's both, but most definitely Photoshopped. All photos used in promotionals and posters and advertisements these days are very photoshopped. Even sexy pirate Kudisch.
Chenoweth Apple Tree promo, pre-airbrush
Who cares if it's photoshopped? It's HOT.

Mere mortal. Gods come with their airbrushing pre-done.
...sexy sexy mortal.
This should be a great production. I saw Kudisch perform "Pirate King" at the Public Sings and he was incredible! I was all the way up and had such difficulty figuring out who was singing, I was convinced it was Kevin Kline. But he was fantastic.
Kline didnt shave his chest, tho.

Marc is HOT! I wish I didn't live in the Midwest so I could go see that production. I directed a production of Pirates here and LOVED it. It was such a fun show to do. I love the recording of the Canadian Broadcast with oh.....wha'ts the guys name. I know who it is. He was the lead in Kiss of the SPider Woman, the window dresser part. Well he was the Pirate King, not the type of guy that I could see as the Pirate King, but he was acturlly pretty funny. I just love the show. Also had a lot of problems with this show. our second weekend our Mabel lost her voice, and she thought she could do the show, and when she sang her first line, and after the first run on "Maaaaaaaa..."nothing came out and her voice dropped an octave. Luckily I had some great supporting sistera, dn they started filling in. It was just the solo and the duet stuff with Frederick that she had to fake her way through because we didn't have an understudy. THat was a miserable weekend.....
OK....Shannon Lewis is a very nice gal and all but....
He and I need to buy some real estate, get a dog, get married and call it a day!
He is really just getting better and better with age.
I hope he does A Little Night Music when it comes back.
Ok, I am so not seeing Marc's hotness, particularly in that picture. Maybe he's just not my type...or I don't have a "pirate thing." *shrugs*

I'm doing this at my school in May, hopefully as the Major General. As my school is across the street from Lincoln Center, we are doing it in conjunction with NYCO. I am really excited.
I did the show in elementary school. Looking back, I'm not sure how on earth my school pulled that off, and it was probably dreadful to watch, but it is such a fun show.
And pirates are sexy.
Agreed, MYB. I never saw what was so breathtaking about him! Never disliked him, but never understood the adulations, either...
And Mark Jacoby as the Major General! I saw him in ON THE TWENTIETH CENTURY at Goodspeed years ago, and as the Judge in the SWEENEY revival - he's definitely worth seeing, too.

PIRATES OF PENZANCE is usually quite popular.
I had seen the movie version with Kevin Kline. Last year, I saw Anthony Warlow as The Pirate King in the Sydney Opera House engagement in Sydney. He was excellent -- he did remind me of Johnny Depp with his full costume ( and even the swashbuckling ways ) and of course he was in glorious form, voice-wise. I wish I could see Marc in this production - I am curious as to how he would interpret the role.
Good to hear Kevin Burdette is singing with NYC Opera again. I did see him in PATIENCE in 2005.
just because I complained earlier, I did some searching and found a VERY detailed seating chart

I have tickets for the final performance, I can't wait!
I wouldn't say he's a god, but in the world of Bway guys, VERY hot. Not Emick hot, but WAY hotter than Foster or Bart or Foa or Tartaglia....
