Aaron Tveit out of Next To Normal :(

So my best friend is seeing Next To Normal right now and I asked her if Alice and Aaron were there and she said there's no Aaron in the cast and I was like yeah Aaron Tveit he sang at the Tony's and she said he's not in it anymore and that Kyle Dean Massey is playing Gabe now...I looked it up online and it says he's playing it through the summer...is Aaron making a movie or something??? I was looking forward to seeing him

It's been announced for a while. He's doing the pre-Broadway run of Catch Me If You Can, and so he's out for three months ("Summer Camp" he called it). Kyle Dean Massey is in for him until September, and he's wonderful in his own right.

I didn't hear about it...that's too bad...but hey I'm coming back to NY in October so maybe I can see him then!! I'm sure Kyle Dean Massey will be amazing.

He's really good, and I'm sure as he does the role more he'll settle in even more. But yeah, Aaron is slated to come back I believe it's September 7.

Well I'll definitely have to come back and see him...in the meantime, I know that when I see Alice Ripley, I'm going to cry. She's amazing. I can't wait to see her!!!

I saw Kyle in the role Fri night and thought he was great and a very suitable replacement for Aaron

Massey is in until September 6, Tveit returns September 7.

Depending on how long the show runs, Tveit would (obviously) have to leave sometime in the winter for the presumed Broadway run of Catch Me If You Can.

Im seeing the show probably september 5th or 6th. I wish I would get to see Aaron. He cant come back just one week early!

I just got back from Next To Normal and it was amazing! I finally realize what all the hype was about. Everyone in the show was amazing. Alice just ripped my heart out she was so good. Hope your friend enjoyed the show as well! :)

adamgreer, from what I understand, Catch Me If You Can isn't slated to go straight from Seattle to Broadway in time for the fall season. They plan to work on it a bit longer then most shows doing an out of town try out in the summer and I think that it might be opening up in the spring.

Winston, I know that. That's why I said he wouldn't leave until the winter, since the show is scheduled to hit Broadway in the spring of 2010. If it opens in April, my guess is he'd leave next to normal in late January, or early February.

Aaron Tveit will play Frank Abagnale, Jr. in the new musical Catch Me If You Can from July 23 through August 14, 2009. During this time, he is taking a leave of absence from Next to Normal and his role will be played by Kyle Dean Massey through the summer.

i live 20 minutes outside of the city and try to see everything, ive only seen 2 touring shows though and im so excited becuase i will be going on a cruise that leaves from seattle on june 24 so i just bought tickets for catch me if you can on june 23.. so excited to see the world premier of a show, cant wait to see aaron and then see it on broadway when it opens later next year.. ill fill everyone in that night!
