So, I know this is rather specific, but thought I'd ask. Has anyone participated in the acting company? It says they're developing solo pieces, and whatnot, and it actually sounds like a great opportunity, but I'm concerned with finances. It says they offer a stipend, and that members of the company would be working at the theater most days for 10-months. Is the stipend enough to live on (I.E. buy groceries, pay for rent, etc), or how else would someone be able to pay for those things? does it leave you with enough time to have a part-time job, or what? Just wondering if anyone out there knew any answers, thanks.

Is this the apprentice company? or Intership opportunity? The theatre has several stages, and range from Lort B-D depending on the stage. It is a wonderful place to work. I met my husband there. If it is the apprentice company, you will work long hard hours, with no chance to carry an outside job. You will work in every aspect of the theatre, on and off stage. You will learn an enormous amount and make incredible connections. And if you are lucky...the love of your life. ; )
Do it, but understand that unless you are an Equity cast member, the pay is not great. But what you reap, is priceless.

Sad to say, but many times the only people who can afford to do these apprentice/internship type programs are the ones who still have an account open at the Bank of Mom & Dad. You do get some people who save up in advance to be able to survive, but it is definitely tough. If there are some sacrifices you can make to be able to do it then I would say go for it. What you will gain is indeed well worth it.
