You should've turned around and said that to her. I know I will.
"Bitter, party of one...Bitter, party of one."

Mabel, that was a typo; sorry! I meant it was only ten total for both, which in comparison, isn't that bad, especially when anything else is ten plus per drink.
MYB, the same timid nature that has kept me a docile fangirl kept me from giving her a piece of my mind. =P

Actually, I'm pretty sure that the sodas were $5 per soda at the Metropolitan Room, so the drink minimum came to $10. I distinctly remember looking at the receipt. Not that $5/soda isn't overpriced, but it's better than $10/soda.
[ETA: I guess you remembered before I posted!]
And I agree - for those of you who make the decision to drink better drinks, don't complain, unless you pay $13 for a peach martini at Joe's Pub that tastes truly awful.
MYB, I'm happy that you're getting to see him! Of course, we expect a full report.
And I totally agree - you're there to hear ADAM sing, not the girl behind you.

Orangeskittles, I was in the second row for U2 at $65 with fees (gotta love their policy of having floor GA the cheapest tix, even if they are a bitch to get). Yes, the others were higher up (though both close to the stage). I'll readily admit that The Stones and McCartney weren't the best example to use for comparitve purposes (I mean, we're talking clubs, vs. arenas) BUT the fact that any ticket for these legendary performers, who put on 2 1/2 hour+ shows, is less than any ticket to see Adam, even from the best of seats...there's just something wrong with that equation, as far as I'm concerned.
Whatever, this is getting silly. I understand that there are lots of people to pay, and that these tix were only select premium seats. Regardless of all that, the fact that $85 and Adam Pascal concert were ever in the same sentence togteher is, imho, absurd. The $35/45 is more than I would spend to see him, but not out-of-line by general club standards.
ETA: Ah, that makes much more sense Em. I was going to say, how much could they possibly charge for alcohol if they were already charging $10 for soda?! Yikes!
And I tend the think Joe's Pub is a rip as far as drinks are concerned. I usually end up just going a little early getting dinner there with the friends I go with and call it a day, as far as the food/drink minimum is concerned (though, the last time I was there, the food I got was pretty awful, so that's thrown a bit of a wrench into the equation).

Siamese, at the Queens concert when he said that I'm With You would be his last song, someone from the back screamed "What about Rent?" That's when he said "shh, no talking." I realize that's not exactly what he was referring to in the article, but I think that would have made it funnier if he said tough titties, and then sang Glory. Eh, I would enjoy hearing him say that period.
Ooh, I'd love to hear his rendition of Easy as Life.

Posted: 10/19/06 at 4:38pmThe irony is that he didn't even hear what the person said; he just heard a voice and was sort of like "what? Didn't catch that..." but nobody repeated it to him. Of course, I'd venture to guess that that person knew he'd be singing Glory at some point, so when they heard "last song" said like"hey, what about it?" instead of asking for songs from Rent other than Glory, but whatever.

Posted: 10/19/06 at 4:45pmI thought they said something which he and nobody didn't hear and was like what's that? and then at least I heard that they said "what about Rent" and that's when he said shh, no talking...so I assumed he heard it but you guys were in the front and closer to him, so maybe he didn't hear. *shrug* Yes I acknowledged it's not the same thing he mentioned in the article...eh, whatever. Not that important.

Eh, you're right Emcee. I probably won't have the guts to actually tell anyone off when I'm there...but I always want to. :)
And I've actually seen Adam before, but never as himself, in concert. I saw him in Rent and Aida twice. *yay*

Right, he knew someone was talking, so he was like "shh, no talking!" but he didn't hear that it was a comment about Rent.

Rent isn't the only show I've ever been in, and so people may want to hear other stuff from Rent, but tough titties."
Umm... that's pretty much the greatest thing I've ever heard.
Those annoying fan girls (with the foam sign and RENT memorabilia, at my concert (oh, and then their mother showed up, and at this concert you were only allowed to get one thing signed OR take a picture. These girls decided that they were better than everyone else, and took a picture with him and had their foam sign signed THEN their mother shows up with at least 5 pictures of him for him to sign)) will be the death of me. The get on my last nerve! I applaud Adam for putting up with them- I couldn't. I would LOVE for him to sing something from Aida, but not Easy As Life- one that he did. Oh well. The fact that he did Maybe This Time and What I Did For Love made me one happy girl. It was obvious when he said what would be his last song, everyone in the audience turned to each other and were whispering, obviously talking about RENT. Too funny. I just hope there aren't any of those kinds of people at the Julia Murney concert, though I can't imagine there will be.
P.S.- I LOVE the bleached hair.

What song that he sang from Aida could he do in a concert setting, though? Fortune Favors the Brave would be awkward.
Honestly, I'd be totally content with him nixing even Glory from his setlist, but I know I'm outnumbered with that belief.

Posted: 10/19/06 at 5:10pmElaborate Lives is, for the most part, a solo (up until the end), so that's do-able.

Lexi, I'm with you on Glory, but I fear it has become his "And I'm Telling You". He'll have to sing that song at every concert he ever does, between now and the retirement home talent show.
WRQ, the people in the front row didn't understand what that person yelled out at the end, so considering we were between the person and Adam, he probably didn't understand it either.

#42re: Adam Pascal in San Francisco
Posted: 10/19/06 at 6:26pmI can't really see that fitting into a solo concert, though; it's so short and anticlimactic out of context.

I don't think booking him for two nights in a row at an 800-seat venue was the best idea, although that means there are probably a lot of good seats left. I hate to be a shill and doubt anything I say will convince anyone here to purchase a ticket if they haven't already, but I promise that he is worth your $35-45 and then some. Hearing him perform well-rested in a concert setting - a setting you can tell he genuinely loves - is far beyond hearing him sing on the Rent movie soundtrack or any cast recordings you might have. Go support him!
