Andrew Lippa is doing it.
And its Addams, not Addam's. And yes, it's important.
The casting should be interesting.

Oh sorry!!! very important!!!! thanks!
yes the casting should interesting!!!
John Astin as Fester
Think about it.
If this fits into the story, he could also play Gomez's father.
oh wow
that would be fun

You know who would be a great Mortisha would be Patti Lupone.Or maybe even Sherie Renee Scott
Julia Murney gets my vote for Morticia
Patti LuPone??? How?
No.
Bebe Neuwirth IS Morticia, she'd be the best choice. I assume Murney is getting it due to her long-standing relationship with Lippa.
One's things for sure about this musical... there will definitely be a tango!
I think this is actually a great idea. I love morbid and dark musicals like Little Shop of Horrors and Sweeney Todd.
LuPone would be a horrible Mortisha, in all the wrong ways.. She would not be able to play the character as all you would see on that stage would be LuPone.

I love Bebe Neuwirth, but for some reason the more that I think about it, the less I see her in the role. I wouldn't even argue because she would be spot-on acting and dancing-wise, but I can't imagine her voice being the voice of Morticia (not that I'm saying Julia Murney is either, but otherwise a great choice). Donna Murphy also would be a magnificent Morticia, but I don't think she'd throw herself in the casting ring when its most likely going to Julia Murney. Maybe it's just me, but I see Morticia with an sultry, dark alto belt.

Do we know if this is going to be a dark musical, I was thinking it would be more like the series, and be very funny to it's time.

Oh, I have no doubt that it'll be a comedy, but like all parts of the Addam's Family series, it has a dark undertone considering the nature of the family itself.
I hope that the producers and authors hew closer to the original Addams Family comics, as drawn and written by the great Charles Addams. I'm a huge fan of the TV show and Raul Julia/Angelica Huston movies, but they tend to stray away from the souce material a bit.
Has anybody seen the AWFUL 3rd film with Tim Curry (adequate) as Gomez and Daryl Hannah (WTF?!?!) as Morticia? GAWDAWFUL!
I second Donna Murphy as Morticia on stage...maybe opposite Raul Esparza..?
^ Ooh! That has potential!
Murphy is too old for Esparza.
11 years isn't THAT big in the great scheme of things.

I read somewhere that they are supposed to base it from the comics!!!
...actually, the more I think of it, Tim Curry would be a great choice for a musical Gomez.
And just thinking out loud, I'd love to see Joaquin Phoenix in the role as well...
