Hi everyone! I'm Italian and in three weeks I'm finally going to see New York City. In order to live a full experience of this amazing city, I'd really like to watch a musical in Broadway, but I can't decide which show!
I'd like to see one of the Classics, like Les Miserables (I love the songs!) or Chicago or Wicked, but I've heard that Aladdin and The Lion King are really good too. What would you suggest? Which of these shows should I watch? Personally I don't like musicals with too much jazz, Chicago been the one of the few exceptions (I loved the songs in the movie).
One other problem is that The Lion King is quite expensive and I can't find discount tickets online for this show. And considering I'd like to buy tickets for seats in Orchestra or Front Mezzanine... I'd spend more than 250 dollars!
So, speaking of discounts: what do you think of the site 'theatermania.com'? Is it trustworthy? Can I buy discount tickets with it?
Thank you in advance for your (many, I hope) answers!

There are no discounts for The Lion King or Wicked. So if you're willing to pay full price, go for it. Otherwise, I would go with Les Mis. Don't see Chicago. TheaterMania is trustworthy, as is BroadwayBox.

You can also see a lot of the rush/lottery policies here:

You can also visit the TKTS booth in Times Square for same-day discounts, although as the previous poster said, you won't find Wicked or Lion King there. You can look at this Web site to see what's been discounted lately:

I'd also put in a plug for "On the Town," a great old-fashioned musical with fantastic music and dancing.

Personally i would suggest you see Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserables. Phantom of the Opera has been on Broadway for over 26 years and is a fantastic show. Both are frequently discounted as well. if you download the TodayTix app, you can use the code RSDSI and get $20 off your first purchase, and most tickets are already discounted. Good luck and enjoy New York!
