Hey everyone,
I'm going to be visiting New York from California in August and I was wondering if anyone had any advice on what might be good to see while I'm there. I'm already going to see Spamalot but any other suggestions would be welcome. Thanks!

"well what kind of show would you enjoy?"
I was thinking about shows such as the Drowsy Chaperone, Curtains or Spring Awakening but honestly, I don't care so much about subject matter as opposed to the quality of the current cast and the overall production. I'd be more willing to buy tickets for a completely unfamiliar show with a highly recommended cast/score then vice versa.

Grey Gardens. Go see it!
The cast is excellent, with Mary Louise Wilson and Christine Ebrsole giving ledgendary performances. I love the score as well.

I think that the rest of the Rent cast is decent at the time being, but I would recommend seeing a different show. Rent seems to be extremely tired.
I would suggest, Drowsy, Grey Gardens, Mary Poppins, Curtains, Company, and Chicago.

If you're thinking about Rent, then definitely see Spring Awakening with the original cast. I was fortunate enough to see the original cast of Rent, and you get the same feeling of freshness, excitement, and amazing energy that Rent once had with this infectious show. Don't miss it. There are future Broadway stars in the making in this cast.
If you want to see stars at the peak of their game, then don't miss Grey Gardens. Mary Louise Wilson and Christine Ebersol are turning in the performances of their career.
I will see Donna Murphy in anything. I think she's amazing, and I've got tickets for LoveMusik, but I've heard the play itself can be a little boring.
